#why does everyone think freddy has a crush on monty when he clearly hates him

I would just like to add 2 pieces of supporting evidence to this theory from the game, which are pretty crucial.
1) After you decommission Monty, pay attention to how Freddy acts. We all know after every upgrade, Freddy responds with a set of dialogue for each respective part.
With chicas voice box, Freddy replies
"Gregory, this upgrade, it was Chica's. Please, be honest. How did you get it?"
"Is she ok?"
He expresses extreme concern for chicas safety, and why wouldn't he? As you said before she was one of the originals, she is really the only thing he as left of the past. He is horrified to find out she is injured, and continuously defends her throughout the game.
Now with Roxy's eyes, Freddy responds
"These are Roxy's eyes!?"
He is also concerned about Roxy, but nowhere near the extent he is about chica. She is more of a stranger to him than Chica or Bonnie and, in his eyes, could be perceived as a replacement for Foxy, just like Monty is for Bonnie.
Now, onto Monty's claws.
"My arms are different... where did you get these parts?"
"How fortunate! I should now be able to smash through the cyclone fences throughout the building, the way Monty does!"
How fortunate.
He clearly doesn't like Monty. At. All. He expresses exactly zero concern for his well-being even after Gregory says he can now smash gates EXACTLY like Monty did, basically telling him what happened. Freddy clearly holds a deep amount of resentment for Monty, which shows in this scene. He didn't ask Gregory to elaborate, and he didn't wonder if he was ok. It could even be interpreted as Freddy feeling as though justice has been served. Monty being decommissioned on the catwalks is poetic in a sense.
Now my other point. If you pay attention to the beginning of SB in the intro sequence, you can see this scene.
Freddy is glaring at Monty.
This entire small segment, Freddy doesn't take his eyes off of Monty. Monty is standing in the place of Bonnie, and Freddy hates him for it.
Now I'm not sure what exactly Freddy believes, but it is very clear that he holds quite a bit of resentment towards Monty for the destruction and decommission of Bonnie, and in turn this deeply affects Monty, because if he did decommission Bonnie, he was possessed. If he was possessed, then he surely can't remember it. This is such an interesting subplot and I hope steel wool expands upon it further at some point.
WHY has no one talked about the way Freddy says "I could open this gate if I had Monty's claws"?
He says it SO tauntingly, like he WANTS you to go decomission Monty for his claws. And when you compare it to the timid way he says "This requires Chicas voice to open" It's even CLEARER that between the two, he doesn't feel a very strong resentment towards the idea of having Monty's claws
And I think that couples EXTREMELY WELL with the sadness in his voice when you take him up to Bonnie Bowl, the way he says "I do not come up here anymore... I miss him..." With so much grief. You can feel it in his tone that Bonnie is still an open wound for him, and why wouldn't it be? Bonnie has been with Freddy since the very start, Freddy has NEVER existed without Bonnie until now. Yes he's known Chica for a long time, but not NEARLY as long as he's known Bonnie.
So yeah, he hesitates with Chica's voice gates. He knows from the start what would need to happen to his friends in order for him to open these gates the way they do, and he just doesn't seem to care about that when it comes to Monty.
And I think it's incredibly telling of Freddy as a character and what he believes happened to Bonnie:
He thinks it was Monty's fault.
He blames Monty for what happened to Bonnie, even though Monty is JUST the replacement. Monty wasnt made specifically to replace Bonnie. Bonnie was decommissioned, the company needed a bass player for parties, Monty was there, so they sent him to parts and services and gave him the necessary upgrade needed to fill the role. Monty wasnt MADE to play the bass. He was made for mini golf.
We as a player know that Monty wasnt responsible for what happened to Bonnie (depending on which ending you pursue and how much attention you're paying to it) but Freddy doesn't know that. Freddy doesn't know about Burntrap, doesn't get to see Bonnie's parts being used on his body. To Freddy, Bonnie was taken out so Monty could gain popularity. Who wouldn't hate that when it meant your best friend was no longer around?
And I think that's another reason why Monty is so aggressive. Sure Freddy talks up this big game of his band mates being his friends, but does Monty truly feel welcome amongst them? He wasn't made for music and glamor. He was made for golf and carefree fun, low expectations and an easy going day to day life of helping little kids play mini golf. Now he's a star, one of the most important animatronics in the whole pizzaplex. He has to be liked or else he'll end up like Bonnie too.
He's out of his element with big shoes to fill, a position he knows he'll never live up to. And now THE star of the show, the guy who's name is on the building, essentially snubs him before he even gets to know him, all because he's convinced Monty had something to do with why Bonnie was decommissioned.
But Monty doesn't know that.
How could he?
How would Monty guess that Freddy didn't like him because he thought he was to blame? There's no way he'd know that, so he assumes it's because he's just not good enough. So he tries harder at every performance, each show is an opportunity to prove his worth.
So when Freddy drops in the middle of a show? It sets him off. That was his opportunity of the day to prove that he belonged in the band. It's like Freddy didn't want him to be there SO BAD he'd malfunction and ruin the show over letting Monty prove himself.
And maybe thats why Monty spends so much time up on the catwalks over Monty golf. Clearly he doesn't feel welcomed by Freddy, so why hang around Rockstar Row any more than he has to? I'm sure Chica and Roxy are indifferent (at least Roxy probably. I'm sure Chica likes Monty just fine, even with a dull ache from Bonnje being gone) to Monty being there now, but Monty is probably thoroughly convinced that since Freddy doesn't like him, it's game over for him. Freddy's word is probably law around here considering the place is named after him, so Chica and Roxy would probably go along with it if Freddy decided Monty wasnt cutting it.
So yeah, he'd retreat to the one place he could ever call his own, the one place that was made just for him. The only place he truly belonged. Monty Golf is his safe haven from Freddy, because Freddy had NEVER had ANY say over what happens in there. Freddy can ignore him and be mad at him in the Atrium all he wants, but Monty Golf is HIS place. Monty Golf is whatever HE decides it is.
But now he's isolated, in a building that's supposed to bring nothing but joy. Of course he grows bitter, watching the other three get along just great while he's forced to watch from the outside. Of course it hurts, it makes him angry and confused on WHY he's just not good enough, why doesn't he deserve that as well? Was it because he wasn't Bonnie? Was it because he just wasn't living up to everyone's expectations?
Never in a million years would he guess that this all stemmed from Freddy's suspicion that he was responsible for Bonnie's decommissioning
Idk, just something I noticed today while replaying Security Breach. His tone at a Monty gate is chillingly carefree for what he's insinuating, and he doesn't dare take that tone when talking about a Chica gate... it's all very suspicious to me and I wouldn't trust Freddy to be alone with Monty after that

SPOILERS FOR FNAF SECURITY BREACH!!
and yes, I'm aware this blog is Jojo but I just needed to share this...
Yeah, FNAF Security Breach is amazing but why is nobody talking about Gregory looking like that? I'm concerned about why Freddy thought it was a good idea to let the 12-year-old sassy gremlin child even drive the car. He looks like he's going to murder your entire family... and he will if he wanted to.
Gregory with an actual gun, though? Yeah, the first thing he'll probably do is shoot the Map S.T.A.F.F Bot. As mentioned before, he said,
"Ugh! I hate that thing!" (or as my "amazing" memory says so)
Gregory does not like it. Especially when he ran into the Map S.T.A.F.F Bot and whipped it off. Making the creepy, chaotic face we see above.
Second, I think it'd be Chica. Counting how many times you see her around. She's all over the place and the first enemy you encounter and interact with. Chica already got folded by Gregory. But I don't think it'll really stop her, she got crushed by the trash compacter. Voicebox taken. Got her beak crushed by Gregory. And she still stands. But after he messes her up, I think the gun will come in handy by that period. She's immune to a ton of things. But if it was the originals then they will immediately get broken.
Third, it'll be little Music Man. Or at least Gregory tries. It's not possible. It moves in a zig-zag when outside the vents. And inside the vents, it goes in a circle. And it moves rapidly. He'll only waste ammo. But it's worth the shot.
Fourth(or third), Roxanne. You see her more than Montgomery, or Monty. Because of her speed, I think it'd be a little harder when you're running from her and you have to reload, that takes time. But it's definitely possible, far from impossible. Because of her narcissism and the way she thinks, she'll underestimate Gregory. Gregory is a clever, chaotic child. And when he's devoted to something he'll do it. He's not a pussy. But once you shoot her, she'll have a mental breakdown. Again, narcissism. At the start of the game, you see Roxanne talking to herself. Hyping herself up. Basically, being a narcissist. And, one of her quotes is,
"I bet I'm your favourite?"
Obviously, it's not true. But when you hear her talking to the mirror, she says,
"Everybody loves you."
She's hyping herself up. Basically saying how everything about her IS perfect. And you hear Roxanne crying when you get far enough in the game. Everything about her has to be perfect. It's a narcissistic thought but it's clear that she thinks that way.
Fifth, Monty. Monty is strong and clearly has anger issues. So I don't think it'll be possible. He'll hurt Gregory, and I'm pretty sure that's his intention throughout the game when he gets more pissed off. In the Boss Battle, I think Monty will harm Gregory. Again, anger issues. But he's not ALLOWED to. So at first, he restrains himself when he doesn't catch Gregory. Going around the middle, I bet it's harder to restrain himself. And at the end, he just snaps, I'm assuming. Again, anger issues.
But if it's Gregory we're talking about, yes, he will shoot Monty. Because he's a more recent animatronic, his body and endoskeleton will be stronger. Bonnie broke down and they replaced him with Monty. You don't see him in parts & services but I think they threw him out. In the messages, they talk about replacing Bonnie with Monty because of the fame and money their receiving BECAUSE they did that. Meaning, they quickly fixed another animatronic up but more beefed up than the others. And replaced Bonnie. So it'll take multiple shots to take him out.
Sixth, probably Vanny. But because of her glitchiness and such, it's impossible. Like, seriously impossible. Your vision glitches out when she's near you. You could barely see her. Yes, you can shoot her when she's far away. But with her glitchiness, the bullet would probably glitch out. Which will be very cool for detail yet very frustrating for the player.
And the people he took mercy on...
First, it's Freddy. Everyone knows this by now. Freddy is the himbo father, of course not! Gregory will never.
Second, Vanessa. Because she's human. It's illegal and that'll be a homicide. But, I'm a 50/50 with this one. All of this happened because Vanessa is chasing him. If Gregory shoots Vanessa, I don't think he'll give two shits. Either way, if she dies or not. Gregory probably doesn't want to get arrested and hunted down by the police. If it was legal then he will shoot Vanessa. Plus, Vanessa was kind of a dick to Freddy so Gregory will probably get mad.
Third, huge Music Man. No words. But for the people who say he will, no he won't. Music Man is huge and nothing will barely happen to him. Gregory can't hit a weak spot if he has multiple hands and legs. It'll just add a hole and Music Man will get furious and just unalive Gregory. Plus Music Man's place as HOLES in it. He can just crawl into one and be fine.
Fourth, Sundrop. Why would you ever want to shoot Sundrop? He's harmless! You monster! He only bans you for breaking his ONE rule. That's respectable. He lets you do anything, just don't break his ONE rule. Plus, he just wants to have fun with you. He's so gentle with you too. Why would you ever want to hurt him? But because of Moondrop, it's understandable. But if you hurt Moondrop, you hurt Sundrop. So Gregory can't shoot Moondrop. But he will if he could've.
The moral of the story is, don't fuck with Gregory. Just don't. He can and will fold you. Even if he looks innocent. But there's nothing innocent about the picture above. Looks like he came from hell, more powerful than the lord of hell itself.
